Health care volunteering

Are you a health care professional and do you desire to contribute to African health care? We work with different types of health care facilities:

  • Mission hospitals
  • Local clinic
  • Rehabilitation clinic for handicapped children
  • Mother & childcare projects
  • Mobile health bus

As a health care volunteer you should prepare yourself for an exciting experience working in another culture with another pace. In Africa it is common that a patients family takes care of the daily meals, washing the patients and bringing the bed linen. Hospital staff primarily focuses on the medical side of the work and less on the social side of patient care. You should prepare yourself to work with less or primitive materials. You will be challenged to think outside the box in terms of finding solutions for situations that occur, and where not all materials or knowledge are available.

Volunteering as a health care professional requires full certification of the applicant, relevant to the chosen work field, such as qualified:

  • Nurses
  • Midwives
  • Doctors
  • Physiotherapists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Dentists
